Bacterial Wilt in Muskmelons

Muskmelon vines with significant fruit set are starting to show vine wilting due to bacterial wilt spread by spotted and striped cucumber beetles. Usually some beetle feeding damage can be observed on the vines near the crown of the plant.
Some pumpkins have also showed early symptoms of bacterial wilt.

Many growers in southeast OH are still fighting very dry conditions. Despite irrigation, sweet corn is showing symptoms of lack of water.

Peppers not on plastic showing slight wilting. Whether on plastic or bare ground, many growers in southeast OH are still have only light fruit set. Only one out of five growers had good fruit with decent size. The likely cause is the high daytime temperatures in early June.
